Cloudy and about 6 F in the morning, about 16 F when leaving.
Today is the day to head south. With a morning temperature of 6 F there was no doubt that somewhere south there had to be warmer temperatures. I had decided to not put water in the trailer because of the danger of it freezing and busting pipes. My prediction of leaving by noon was too optimistic as we didn’t get everything ready to go until about 2 PM. We kind of reverted to just putting everything from the house into the trailer as an alternative to good planning ahead. This doesn’t end with the best results.
So about 2 PM we headed out. Got about ¼ mile away on Pontius Rd. and Joan happened to remember that we forgot Inky’s (cat) food so back to the house. At least Inky was happier knowing that he had something to eat on the trip.
Finally down I71 we headed through Columbus and Cincinnati. We stopped someplace along the way to put Inky in the trailer so that he could use his bathroom facilities. Joan commented that it was really cold and noisy in the trailer. She looked in the front bedroom and discovered that one of the windows was completely missing. The frame for the glass window along with the glass was completely missing, the only thing left was the screen. Why or where it went is a mystery, I can only assume that it was not latched properly and the wind or passing truck created enough force that it pulled it out.
Luckily I had part of a roll of duck tape in the trailer and along with a plastic garbage bag covered the opening.
We stopped down at Florence, Kentucky and stayed overnight at a Comfort Inn. It was still only 20 couple degrees. Inky enjoyed the motel room.
